What are the donations for?? Probably the people who labor in the rubble, as they most likely receive no wage to do so.
Most men used shovels and sifting pans, and some took advantage of the must prized caribou.

You may remember earlier pictures from this site -- just a little further explanation. Across the little makeshift bridge (essentially a log with a very flimsy bamboo railing) is the ancient Catholic church and shrine, at the foot of Mt. Mayon. A small stream used to run down from the volcanic mountain; now a rushing flow drives through the area where entire communities once resided. As was the case with every other site of destruction we visited, men were working hard to rebuild and/ or dig out supplies or loved ones and belongings from the rubble. Mind you, the typhoon and landslide happened last November, but many individuals still search and labor in the destruction daily.
