Well, the boys had fun scooting around on the Hagen boys' toys...
But this was a far more common mode of transportation. These "trikes" were often loaded with upwards of 20 people, some of whom sat on the roof. We were fairly cozy with Matt and I and the two little girls!
This was an anomaly -- no traffic and a clear chance to cross the road! Not only is traffic insane, but there are many fairly odd unwritten rules. For instance, pedestrians are not responsible for ensuring the coast is clear before crossing the road. As long as they have not made eye contact with drivers, they are entirely absolved of responsibility. Therefore, most pedestrians cross the road with their heads down, not looking at traffic!
Many of the areas in which we will be working require a water taxi such as this one.
Here's a less fancy version of the trike -- no motor...
The "jeepney" is a modified jeep left from WWII, which they have now started manufacturing directly. The get SO crowded, and all are decorated with art, Americon Icons, and sayings.
